I'm not a very charismatic person, but ever since I was a kid, I've had these unusual dreams-- not all the time- but when they happen, I know I have experienced a spiritual reality on a different level than a fully conscious one... I had one of these dreams Tuesday night... If I told you the exact details, it wouldn't make much sense, because they were very bizarre- and seemingly random, however I woke from the dream at 4 am and had to write it down- there was no question in my mind that it was a message-- for US.  (Jesus spoke in parables, that often confused people, but later he would interpret them for His disciples... this dream seemed like a parable.  The ironic thing is that as soon as I woke up I knew immediately what it meant.)

There was a randomness to the people in the dream (aside from Amy - who happened to look like Fiona from Shrek and Matt George- who invented a special kind of golf club—see… wierd details.. :-) )  I think this was because the dream wasn't about specific people as much as it was about all of us-- no one was ever singled out by identity, but rather by role in the story...what they did was separated from who they were.  The bad parts were always understood as the result of people being deceived by the devil and no one got glory for doing good because their small acts of faith were always magnified by such power from God that all the glory obviously belonged to Him... but both the good and the bad were clear and prevalent.... here is the dream "The devil came to town"

One day there was a strange, sickly, hue coming from the horizon... it interested all of us.  It even turned some people's faces green.  As we got closer to the source of the color we found it originated from a new "person" who was coming into our community.  He came with pomp and circumstances-- making many attractive promises.  I knew at once that he was the devil (the devil plays himself in this story- this is not an illustration of a particular person).  Those whose faces didn't turn color spoke to him in the name of Jesus- and lived lives consistent with the Lord's character... their influence was used by God to bring normal color back to their “green” brothers and sisters (note:  this is not a story about which people's faces turned, it is about our need for each other).  Though his initial plan failed, the devil didn't leave.  He just changed his tactics.

Later on, someone in the community began to get an extreme amount of attention.  The opportunity for power was present.  Many others became jealous-- and the green hue found it's way onto their faces... But rather than becoming conceited, the person getting the attention humbled herself and gave God the credit for her newfound success.  Because of this, the jealousy subsided, which brought human color back... and the devil's ploy vanished... but he didn't leave.

Then some in the town fell on very hard times, while others seemed exceptionally blessed.  Those in poverty expected the more fortunate to move to a better place.  Their absence would leave the town in shambles, destroying the community. Impoverished faces began to turn green. But, beautifully, their poverty was met with extreme generosity from the more fortunate.  Those with plenty gave up their “right” to leave, and exchanged what appeared to be the opportunity for a “better” life for the option to love. Though some ended up with less in their pockets, and others more, their trust in each other grew... and the shades of green became lighter...

Finally the devil decided to steal my kids (He knows how to hit where it hurts the most)...and this arrow was pointed straight at my heart.  I didn't expect it.  I wasn't even watching at the time.  But suddenly they were gone.  Panic chilled my bones, as my worst nightmare became a reality.  The beautiful thing, however, is that my brothers and sisters who saw the theft announced it immediately.  They didn't turn a blind eye to the reality, or make it "none of their business."  They knew the pain and loss I would experience, so they made the missing kids a public matter... I was not alone.  We were an army united with a purpose.   An all out search was made for my children.  Because every nook and cranny in the town was uncovered immediately, the devil was soon found hiding in a corner with my children-- he hadn't gotten far.  I didn’t even have to fight him, I simply commanded him in the Name of Jesus, and he had no choice but to give them back...the power was beyond his own...

My gratitude was so intense, I woke from my slumber... and had to write...

The amazing thing about the dream is that there was never any question that God was always the hero, even though He always used His people to do His work...

And the devil was always the enemy, even though his work showed up in the people...

But the dream was never about the "good" people and the "bad" people, it was about US, God's people...

We all had our times falling into shades of green, but during those times, there were others that kept their color... and their simple lives of faith were magnified by the power of God and used to draw out the green and revive faith in the faithless...

No one person ever did anything extravagant, but simple acts of faith and love for one another always confounded the devil’s schemes.

There was never any hero but God... but He always used us to rescue each other.  And as He did so, we grew together in love... As we lived out simple, but powerful, lives of faith…

Re: My Dream: "The Devil Came to Town"

Wow, I expected you to start it with
"The devil came down to Gaston, he was looking for a soul to steal. he was in a bind, cause he was way behind, he was willing to make a deal..."
You captured your dream well. I can't ever seem to do that with mine using words. They are just a bunch of images I can't forget. Hooray for God winning, because we know that is the ultimate result! Can't wait to see this defeat take place, but I pray that He doesn't use w, x, y, or z. So right now, I bind your babies to heaven, and loose the angels to watch over them. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
God bless the body of Christ!

A very good article. Have you ever done a Rapidshare Search ( rapidqueen.com ) before? I recommend to try it.
